Gubbing?

Postby jacsman » Sat Oct 15, 2011 8:41 am

Hi I have been looking at different ways of making this work for me and been paper trading to see which work and which dont. I think I have identified a way of making consistent profit but it means making large bets on a daily basis (between £100 - £1000 per bet). What I am worried about is if this is going to get my accounts restricted or not. The bets will be mixed odds so I expect losing as much as winning at each bookie but cant afford to lose any of the account while in play.
Any advice appreciated
Thanks

Any action which is not usual punter behaviour could lead to a gubbing. Some books are much quicker than others to do it. If you can make a steady income for a few months before being caught, does this outweigh the potential reloads from said bookies over the lifetime of the account? At the moment I am not arbing Laddies as much due to their never ending free bet and refund offers. Last year I didn't arb WH due to their regular BOGOF's. You don't wanna get gubbed when there's loads of free money on the table.

Other bookies such as SJ have very infrequent, and usually not so good offers, so I arbed them literally to the death of the account. Sporting bet don't have many reloads, but when they do they are usually big, similarly Bet365, so arb these with caution as both are quick to gub.

Got my first Gubbing....From Mr Stanley James...Only just completed the offer and a couple of small arbs, No more than £100 wagered on each bet. I had about 170 in the account with a 100 bet still to be settled. I contacted live help as my account said locked. They said that although not illegal my account had been used for arbing. I just said strange.? No texactly a High Roller am I? if you dont want my custom that's upto you.

They reckon i will get my balance and any outstanding bets that win refunded to my card. I got a screen shot of the conversation. In case they try and keep my cash. Hope they dont or i will be down a bit.....

Have i just been unlucky??

No Trigger you haven't been unlucky, as I said in my previous post SJ are very quick and keen to Gub. They are reputable though and I have no doubt they will pay out you balance and any outstanding bets.

I have a new theory which I am going to put to the test. I am hopefully starting a new account before Cheltenham. I am going to give flat betting a go and see if that helps.

The principle is most regular punters probably bet the same amount every time they bet, so this is what I am going to do. Take SJ as an example, if you bet £10 for the first bet, then 2x £20 etc. i.e. the minimum the terms allow this may scream bonus abuser. My intention is to place a £50 bet for every bet, so the free bet appears to be just a bonus and not the reason I joined. Similarly I won't bet the whole £400 in one go at Bet 365 but more likely £100 at a time. I'll let you know if this leads to longer lasting accounts ;)

Nice 1 SS. Well i got my money off them today, so time to move on. I am sure my father in law wanted a SJ account though..LOL. Good strategy to try that on 365. obviously youve got the Bank Roll to back it up, so youre laughing..

SS, surely they would see you as a potential 'bonus abuser' if you signed up to your account, (said account) through an Affiliate link? I however do understand this site is reliant upon such things and will be doing my bit to keep it going. I've just joined this site so i've got plenty of questions :D and i dont mind being shot down if i'm talking garbage.

All bookies know about matched betting. As you've seen we actually encourage people to try to win at the betting exchange and lose at the bookie. That's good for you and good for the bookie because you'll get more free bets (reloads) if you're profitable in their eyes.
They may not privately like it (theyd much prefer we all gambled and lost all our disposable income every month) but they accept it.

Hi all,

What an interesting thread.

Could some one please tell me how many accounts you can have before a said bookie gets on to you about it and closes them?
If i make bets from two different ip (homes) addresses from 3 or 4 accounts are they likely to catch on?

Lastly i got banned from Sporting bet for attempting there Olympics offers, i was only fulfilling there requirements and they did not award the bonus!!
Very frustrating, i was betting on 0-0's which i thought was ok as they were guaranteed to win!! And the risk was mine waiting for the odds to drop!!
Once they ban you from promotions how do you get reinstated?

cheers all and thanks for the constant advice,

minidigits.

Think once your gubbed thats it. They may restrict or limit your account temp or perm as they wish. The E-mail i had from Stanley James was pretty clear is was dun and dusted for good.

Think the way fwd for you is if help someone else out with their if you get my drift.;-). Could be your Grandad or someone??

Re: Gubbing/Bonus Bet?

Thinking of trying a new sign up 200 bonus bet, with a certain well known Bookie. If i deposit 200 and bet it in 2x 100 bets at say odds of 5.5 or more. Then repeat the same with the bonus. Win at Betfair twice. Job Done

Would this be ok./ I presume s,. as long as i bust out every time.?
I know i would have to bust out 4 times then. Instead of 2 if i did the same with 2 x 200 bets.

But this would mean i could do it with less bankroll. and less chance of a gubbing.

If i do win at the bookies. I know i would then have to have the money in Bet Fair to cover the Bet again. as i would have to then bust out again.

Does this make sense?? Just wanted to check before i wade in.

Cheers
