Abbreviations

As requested here is a list of casino related abbreviations and terms.
Other mods/admin feel free to edit this thread.

Double up - Doubling the free chips on offer on a single bet.
If you lose it's game over, if you win the you stand a better chance of coming away with a profit.
Re-double - A repeat of the above.
WR - Wagering requirement
Grind - Meet the wagering requirements betting minimum stake.
Post wager - The bonus is added after all the wagering is completed.
Sticky bonus - One that remains even after you have withdrawn your winnings. The Stan James free chips for example.
SUB -Sign up bonus.
Re-load - After you have joined a casino and done the SUB then they offer you another bonus ie a re-load.
Casibot - Automated program that plays blackjack (you pay for it).
BJ - Blackjack.
JOB - Jacks or better.
DOND - Deal or no deal. Can be played with little loss for a WR, the strategy being to accept the bankers first offer. Good if you don't remove the top prize on your first picks.
TT - Top trumps.
3CP - 3 Card poker.
VP - Video poker
+EV - Positive estimated value.
-EV - Negative estimated value - not profitable.
Sweepering - A system for betting at blackjack which can increase your chances of winning more money. If you are winning several hands in a row then you increase the stake size eg 1,1,2,2,4,8,16. The theory is that you win more when you are winning than you lose when you are losing. As soon as you lose a hand then return to minimum stake.
Martingaling - Doubling your stake until you win. This is risky but can be effective in small bursts. Long term you will lose though.
Chasing - If you lose you chase your losses by incresing your bet size, a bad habit long term and something I am guilty of from time to time.
HE or HA - House edge/House advantage. For example slot machines usually have a HE of about 5% wheras blackjack has a HE of 0.5%
Pitboss - Usually seen at a live casino, someone who oversees the betting, watches for unusual or illegal betting patterns.
Weighted - Means that certain games only count a percentage towards the wager requirement.
Variance - Basically this boils down to luck. If you play 1250 £1 hands of blackjack and the house edge is 0.5% you should lose £6. If you are unlucky and experience bad variance (losing streaks) you could lose a lot more. Varience evens itself out over time provided you continue playing.
The smaller the WR the more chance there is of higher varience.
Sometimes I think I know everything......then I wake up.

Thank you for this, it now makes more sense.
I suppose it is in the doing and when you are a bit green all seems daunting.

cheers
