Jayboats - 2000 Pound Experiment blog

Postby jayboat » Mon Nov 29, 2010 8:18 pm

29/11/10

So this is it, my first post of the 2000pound challenge. I try and do this weekly.
I started off 5 days ago with my first offer, this ended a balls up with a nice result as I got lucky. I received my new bank card the next day and signed up for bout 3 SUB’s then ploughed through another 8 the next day and I a few more from then I think. The main problem now is having enough in betfair to cover my equity, I won a 20bet@4 at the bookies and lost around the same from my betfair account, lucky I was able to withdraw the funds back to my card. Ive put a list below if each bookie ive opened with and show my bets with them. I’ll probally only do this the first week to show what odds im betting at. After that I’ll just post up my results. Its really just to see if I need to be doing something different to increase profit.

Bookie: 188bet.com
Bonus: Free HD freeview box
Match/Race: (Q) Man U vs. Rangers – Backed for a draw @6.7 for 50
Laid for: Laid @3.95 for 60
Result: +7pound

I missed here as you can see by the result. Basically what I did was backed a draw for corners @6.7 and laid for draw in final score meaning that if it was a draw I would stand to lose 60 @3.95 which is about 240. Wouldn’t be nice for my first trade, but I got lucky and Mau U out a goal in with about 5 minutes of play left, and won 60 on Belfair take off 3 fees and 7 profit after you take off the corners bet which ended I think somewhere around 14-3 to Man U, so yeah got lucky there and have the option to claim a 25 bet.

Bookie: Skybet.com
Bonus: 10pound
Match/Race: (Q) Fulham vs. Birmingham, Back Fulham@ 2.1 for 10
(F) Horses @ Tauton – Backed Sir Wilson @2.97
Laid for: (Q) Laid @2.14
(F) Laid @3.1
Result: +5.80

Bookie: Centrebet.com
Bonus: 5 pound (Instant I think. I remember betting on both bet in the same night)
Match/Race: (Q) Wolves vs. Sunderland, Backed Wolves @2.77
(F) Fulham vs. Birmingham, backed a draw @3.3
Laid for: (Q) Laid @2.68
(F) Laid @ 3.4
Result: +3.26

Bookie: Bluesq.com
Bonus: 10 deposit and bet for 10 bet
Match/Race: (Q) Burnly vs. Derby, backed burnly @2.15
(F) So Lisbon vs Porrto, draw@3.2
Laid for: (Q) Laid @2.16
(F) Laid @3.25
Result: +10.27

Bookie: PaddyPower.com
Bonus: deposit 10, get a 20 bet
Match/Race: (Q)Newcastle vs. Liverpool, Backednewcastle @5.5
(F) River Plate v Olimpo Bahia Blanca - Draw @ 6.50
Laid for: (Q) Laid @5.5
(F) Laid @7
Result: + 14.20

Bookie: Boylesports.com
Bonus: 20 deposit and bet for 20 free bet
Match/Race: (Q) Villa vs. Arsenal, backed Villa @ 3.6
(F) W Bremen vs St Pauli, draw@3.75
Laid for: (Q) Laid @ 3.65
(F) Laid @3.95
Result: +16.37

Bookie: Totesport.com
Bonus: 10 SUB
Match/Race: (Q) Kaisertern vs. Schaike, backed Schalke @ 2.3
(F) Norwich vs Ipswich, draw@3.4
Laid for: (Q) Laid @2.28
(F) Laid @3.4
Result: +9.71

I layed this for 10 when I should have for about 7. I did’nt feel it would be a draw and would make up for the crappy odds, so I took the risk as I thought the risk to reward was in my favour .

Bookie: Betbaq.com
Bonus: 20 pound
Match/Race: (Q) Horses @ Dundalk, Diamond Star @ 6.2 (First bet)
Horses @ Dundalk, Diamond Star @ 2.24 to place (Second bet)
(F) Horses
Laid for: (Q) Laid @2.46 (Ill explain)
(F) Laid @
Result: +12.03
This one ended up doing ok but was lucky. I put a bet on the wrong markets. I backed the ‘to win” and laid the ‘to place’ market. I seemed like there was a huge mistake and I had gotten very lucky but again, it was too good to be true. The only way to fix was to lay the ‘to win’ market but I didn’t have to correct amount to lay another bet, so I quickly deposited at betbaq and backed the ‘to place’ market. I came up with if the horse wins, I’m down around 15, if it places, im down around 90, if I doesn’t place im up around 12. I decided to watch this one, and was so happy to see the horse go down, so another experience to learn from. Aslo waiting on a free 20 bet from them

Bookie: Ladbrokes.com
Bonus: 10 SUB
Match/Race: (Q)Bologna vs. Chievio, Backed draw @ (
F) @2.97
Laid for: (Q) Laid @3.15
(F) Laid @
Result: +

Bookie: 888Sports
Bonus: Lose 20 for 20
Match/Race: (Q) Bolton vs. Blackpool, Backed draw @ 4
(F) @2.97
Laid for: (Q) Laid @4.4
(F) Laid @
Result: +5.80

I wrote the (above) first half of this on Friday night and I’m finishing it now on Sunday night after all my footy bets have settled. Still waiting on this one.

So that’s what ive done so far, The total of the above is 84.44. Ones I still need to claim.
Coral for 25
Ladbrokes for 10
Betbaq for 20
Betclick for 20 (Doing my Q-bet on one tonight)
So easly another 50-60pounds. I also played the slots on betfair by opting into the lose 25 on your first arcade transfer and get a refund. I won 20 on that which was nice. So all that gathered, when I complete all standing free bets, ill be up roughly 160ish.

So after my first few days, I can look back and say that it probally would be best to start off slow and maybe only do like 2-3 offers a day. Im not be to be to active the next couple of days as I need to transfer funds from betfair to my MBing bank account so I can do more SUB’sHopefully this will be around the same time that I clear up only pending bonuses.
That’s it for week1 then. Hopefully this is the start of something nice ;)

Looking at you figures I'm not entirely sure where the winnings are coming from. I think you may be making some mistakes and getting lucky !

Take for instance the Boylesports offer. The Free bet is stake not returned so done right using the odds you have posted loss on qualifier is -£1 and winnings from free bet are £13.40 giving a profit of £12.40 and not the £16.37 you have made.

My advice for what it's worth, do 1 offer a day but do it right. The centrebet offer which is SR you should keep 95% of the bonus, the 888sport offer is worth £16 profit easily and you should be looking at 80% from all SNR's.

Just remember it's not a race. On a positive note you're in profit but looking at the figures you have posted had the results gone against you you'd be down by a lot more than you are currently up.

Yes SS, Ive looked into it and i see what ive done wrong and got lucky again  . I layed for 19.23 instead if the 14.10 i was meant to. I have ovr layed another match thats running now due to an early goal. I know that they will serve me well in the short term but long term, not so sure. I like to try everything, you never know until you try.

I also see what you when about taking my time, ive only signed up for 1 yesterday and 2 today and i guess i should be trying to get the most out of these offers. Problem is i seem to be finding it hard to find anything good to bet on with long odds. Football matches are ok, but they are slow and the odds for 90% short. I can try horses but im always tempted to place the bet at the bookie 30 minutes before the start and wait until just before the race starts i hope that the exchanges odds will have shortened in the that time. Are there any other good events with long odds for SNR bets?

Another small journey i had this evening and guess what? I got lucky again, when i hit a losing streak im screwed.

Anyways, so i at betfair and decieded to have a go at who wants to be a millionaire so i hit the demo button and started playing for 10pound a spin. The dogs walking around the door so i let her out and when i return i slap another tab with betfair and go into acarde to play aagin, this time i did'nt know that id signed into the real play version, so anyway i made about 5 spins and left. I seen my blalance was short so checked what had happened. When i saw my account, i returned to the game without really thinking and started playing 10pound a spin. I started with 240ish after losing 50 already. It went abit like 2 steps forward, then 3 back. When my balance reached 100, it only started to kick in, that id lost 180pound. Again without thinking, i changed the stake to 20pound giving me 5 spins final spins.

I only needed 4 and hit the jackpot game. I got upto 400 and the 1000 was a step up meaning if i could go 1 more up ladder, id have got 2000 min, but it was'nt to be. I was so happy to win 400 and even did my evil laugh at the computer, like take that who wants to be a what?

I was lucky again, i dont know why i do these things, i do no my account is up 140ish cause of it  I need to be so carful around gaming sites, Ive already made 4 big mistakes now that could have put my into the minus. I thinks its the excitment of doing something new, when that wears off in a few weeks, i should hopefully clam down. Aside from that, i hav'nt placed any new bets are signed up to any other bookies. Still wanting on transfer from betfair to MBing bank account.

Firstly are you using the oddsmatcher to find your bets?

At most UK bookies you can find close bets on correct score or Half Time / Full time if your patient. A match of 9/11 will return more profit on a SNR free bet then 3.75/3.95. Usually you have at least 7 days to use your free bet and more often 30 days. Also for free bets take a look at odds on the golf (not so much until New Year now).

Finally, take a long look at what you're doing. You seem to have an urge to gamble. There's nothing wrong with a little recreational gambling if you are sensible and keep within your limits. NEVER gamble what you can't afford to lose! A gambling addiction can be very destructive and lead to huge losses as you chase small losses. Financially a gambling addiction is more costly than a drug addiction.

Using matched betting you can make some substantial money, but you need to start off slow to grasp how it's done. Rushing through the bets you are losing probably 50% of what you could be making. If you want to know how much can be made, I've been doing it for 20 months and this year I've paid £6,000 for a new kitchen, £6,000 off my mortgage, £1000 for a holiday and put £2000 into a savings account for my family. I still have £28,000 left as a float so trust me, take it steady and eventually the money will come.

Sensible advice shooter. Nothing wrong with a little flutter or riding your luck a little now and again (even a slight underlay or overlay is technically gambling as the outcomes may affect your profits differently) but first and foremost free easy money is about how to make money by not gambling. The money is there for everyone just waiting to be claimed

Yes, fine post SS. I will from now try and not gamble to show the true profit that can be made from this at a starter point. Now ive slept on it and im now think that i had pretty much lost 300 last night until i got uber lucky and hit that jackpot game for 400.

Now, i that my floats a little bigger, i will be taking more time with the offers to max the profit. I have been using odd matcher for almost every game but the odds are to short and i wanted to turn it around quickly, ive probally lost aound 50pound of free money by rushing through them to build a decent float to have the equity to lay at higher odds. I may even look through odd matcher first to help me decide what the best SUB is to do next. My betfair money has hit the MBing bank account so now i can do a new offer. Im stuck on betclick with a 20 SNR bet and cant find anything good, maybe better to wait a day are 2.

So, hopefully no more gambling. Sometimes my risk/reward is a little off, i should just be more disciplined and rememeber why i doing this and what the goal is.

02/12/10 – Part 2

Right, folk,s im just gonna do this every few days as its hard to remember all the details and i think the feedback after each post will make for a good learning ground as the questions roll in and the advice is given by the more experienced MBer’s of the forum. Had some good times and bad times, karma maybe working its magic. So as u can see from one of my above posts, I got uber lucky with the slots and ended 140 up while playing 20pound a spin who wants to be a millionaire. I hit the jackpot game when I had 27pound left of the 280 starting balance in my betfair account. I won 400pound. I know, I can picture you rolling your eyes at me right now. I did a big no no with my FB on Ladbrokes, all explained below.

So, this MBing crack is alright after all, there is money to be had and I think (hope) my gambling urges are gone. Starting to notice the importance of a good float with the bigger SUB’s. I blasted my way through around 12 SUB’s in my first 4 days which was easy as most were 10pound SUB’s. This week, mostly been doing 20pound and 25pounds which need a lot more money in my betfair account to lay, so I have been forced to slow down and take my time. Another thing I am doing is keeping a book with all my bets, I use 1 page per bookmaker. This makes it very simple for me to track and work out my profits as before it was a case of, right, I have 225 in my betfair, 95 in my bank account, 40 in paypal, 60 in my coral account, 120 being transferred from betfair to my bank account, a FB of 20 here and another 10 FB there. Got a little confusing tracking all that in my head. As I keeping better records now, the figure at the bottom is my true profit number.
I think i finished off last week on the 29th so this is from the 30th onward.

Betclic.com (20 if you lose SUB)
(QB)- Football Backed @ 3.50 -20
Layed @ 3.6 +18.86
(FB)- Horses Backed @ 12 -20
Layed @ 11.5 +20.43 Result +19.29
Stanjames.com (25 SUB)
(QB)- Football Backed @ 2.5 -25
Layed @ 2.6 +23.31
(FB)- Football Backed @ 5 -25
Layed @ 5 +20.20 Result + 17.5
Unibet.com (20 SUB)
(QB)- Football Backed @ 3.35 -20
Layed @ 3.6 +18.86
(FB)- Football Backed @ 3.65 -20
Layed @ 3.7(Layed for 20) +19.50 Result +18.36

These are ones that were not complete on my last post.

Coral + 18.85

Ladbrokes -67
(Basically what happened here was a simple case of thinking I hit the confirm bet on Ladbrokes when I had not. It was a horse race and I layed at 9.57 for 10pounds and thought I had backed @10 for 10pound. As the horse won and I checked my Ladbrokes account, I got a sick feeling. I was down 95.70,maybe karma for my recent good luck on the slots. I placed my free bet on a footy game at odds of 2.87 and did’nt lay it. I was lucky once again and won a little back to the tune of 28.75 leaving me -67 overall. (Mental note – Make sure all bets are placed properly, double and triple check)

Betdaq.com +28.85
Another one I made a balls up of. First off, I placed a bet to back a horse to win @6.2, when I tried to lay it @6.1, I was told I did’nt have enough equity to cover the bet. So as the race was starting in minutes, I quickly deposited another 20pound in betdaq and backed the same horse to place @2.24, I layed it @2.46. I made my lay bet at 54.77, don’t ask me why, I was very rushed and honestly can not remember. If had won, I was up 34.07, ive it placed, I was down 26.77 and if it finished 4th are after, I was up 12.03. I was so happy when I saw the horse fall, so I got lucky again cause I think it was in second place at the time. (Mental note – Ensure I have equity to cover a bet im about to make)

I have opened another 3 accounts and either have QB’s with them are am waiting on my FB. The profit number I put below is the true figure I im up at this minute in time excluding FB’s im waiting for. Please also note that some of my profit has also come from who wants to be a millionaire, as I complete more offers and deals, the percentage of this will surely decrease giving a truer figure.

Profit at this time is - +291.50

To be honest this number looks a little off to me. I will break it down below.
MBing Bank Account 241
Betfair 219.25
Paypal 73.75
Jaxx.com 57.50

Total- 591.5 take off my starting 300 leaving 291 profit.

Well your certainly learning on the hoof ;)
I like your mental notes though-should be heeded by all and will serve as another reminder.
Keep it going :D

05/12/10 – Part 3
Not really been that active the last few days but with todays football, ive cleared up all my free bets and thought it would be a good time to update the blog before I start any new offers which im gonna start looking into after I finish writing this. Im fairly sure that ive completed all the smaller ones now and its 25pounds and upwards left meaning that keeping my betfair balance as high as I can is important. Ive been trying my hardest to withdraw my balance from my jaxx account after winning my Q-bet, after looking into their terms, ive found out that I can not as I have any deposited money though my debit card and they say that to withdraw funds I need to do a bank transfer. I’ll give them a phone in the morning and see what can be done, if they don’t help me out, I’ll wait for a small arb at high odds and hopefully lose it into my betfair account at min cost. So, that’s about it, everything has been going smoothly. Like I said, gonna sign up for 2-3 offers tonight. I find it hard to know which bookies to sign up with next and simply use the oddsmatcher to make up my mind for me.
One more thing, ive been looking through the forum a lot the last few days and have came across some good info, opening up a moneybrokers account seems like a smart thing to do, ive been putting it off to be honest but I’ll need to pull my finger soon and get it done. Also got my first free bet from paddypower, they sent me an email for a 5pound free bet with ive already completed. Hopefully as I open up more accounts I will get more emails like this, it really is money for nothing.
Below are what ive completed from last post, had my Q-bet game canceled at eurobet, but they still paid out the bonus as I placed the bet and i ended up using my deposit and free bet on the same game as I found equal odds.

VictorChandler.com (25 SUB)
(QB)- Football Backed @ 3 -25.00
Layed @ 3.15 +23.00
(FB)- Football Backed @ 8.5 -25
Layed @ 8.8 +20.29 Result +18.29
Eurobet.com (10 SUB)
(QB)- Football Backed @ 12 -10
Layed @ 12 +9.13
(FB)- Football Backed @ 12 -10
Layed @ 12 +9.14 Result +8.27
Jaxx.com (25 SUB)
(QB)- Football Backed @ 2.3 +57.50
Layed @ 2.34 -33.65
(FB)- Football Backed @ 10.5 -25
Layed @ 12 +19.44 Result +19.44

Paddypower.com ( 5 free bet emailed to me)
(FB)- Football Backed @ 11 -5.00
Layed @ 14 +3.4 Result +3.40

MBing Bank Account 103.5
Betfair 501.01
