Gubbed accounts.

Postby RIT » Thu Nov 12, 2009 11:04 pm

If you have an account that`s limited and you close it, how long are the bookies likely/entitled to keep your data?

How long before you could open a shiny , new, unlimited account in the same name as before?

Anybody any ideas?

Interesting question. Data protection laws concentrate on other areas but the individual can request data holders to delete held information in some cases (right of rectification or erasure) If you apply for them to do this they must reply to the request in 40 days

Bookies Have different ways of dealing with this. Ladbrokes have confirmed on more than one occasion that you can have as many accounts as you like so long as they all use different funding sources. You can only claim the bonuses on one. Also Ladbrokes will allow you to close an account and immediately re-open it and hey presto no limits.

I closed my Betfred account as I didn't see the term no moneybookers for bonus. 3 months later I opened a new account (Different user name) using a card no problem.

Basically I am limited at 3 bookmakers,Betfred, Boylesports and just recently Sportingbet. So you think if I close the accounts and then open a new account in 6 months they would be unlimited?

Also, Steve, when you have 5 different accounts at a bookmaker using relatives and friends at different addresses how do you get round the debit cards? I know you use a different card but is it their debit card? e.g is it possible to open an account in your sister`s name with a card that is not in her name? Would the bookies catch on to this?

I think if you opened a new account at the bookies it would probably not be gubbed. You would also probably get the free bet again but using it would be risky as they would have the right to cancel it if they realised. Most bookies have a term which states the bonus can only be claimed once but very few of them have a term saying you can only have 1 account !

With regard to accounts for Friends & Family, I use a debit card / Moneybookers account set up in their name and address, importantly with their consent. I pay them £1,000 over 10 months for the use of their accounts. It's very important to have mutual trust as you are effectively using their ID and you would need them to back you up that they in fact were operating the accounts and not you (worst case scenario of course)

The last person who took me up on this offer I cleared the £1,000 in 3 weeks doing the big UK books and 6 months after starting my sisters account I've made £2,500 profit over and above the £1,000 I've promised her. I've virtually run out of books to do in both our names without doing the US ones but I'm happy with the margin I've made plus when I give her her bank card back at the end of the 10 months, I'll still have a moneybookers account in her name to do the reloads as they come.

I've hopefully got a couple more people lined up for the New Year to start again. If it comes off I may blog that as a how to make as much as quickly as possible for the Newbies

So if you are using a debit card in their name , what happens if you win at the bookies? You withdraw and have to ask them to give you the money or I am guessing you have the card and PIN and withdraw the money yourself?

Surely for the moneybookers you could just use your moneybookers account with a different email?

I love how this forum is underground, away from the bookies view so we can discuss what we want without `the enemy` noseying in on it.

I have the card and I've set up online banking so I can just move the money around as I want

What would happen if you opened an account in someone else`s name, with their permission, but with a debit card in your name. Would the bookies soon notice and prevent this?

The card has to have the same name & account billing address as the account holder. You can get round this occasionally by using moneybookers which is verified seperately, you only need an appropriate e-mail address.

Dont bet on that part. Bookies know all about match betting and FEM. Nothing that has been discussed so far is illegal as "consent" "full knowledge" and "on behalf of" are the key terms. Anything else could well be fraud and could not be discussed. The above practices may be against the spirit or terms of the bookies operations, but that would be a civil matter between them and their customers.
Whether they monitor these forums - who knows?
