Betafterbet confirmed to be scam

Postby Tatty Bear » Sun Oct 11, 2009 12:44 pm

Apparently Betafterbet has been confirmed to be a scam, and a lot of people have lost their money.

I suggest this alleged bookmaker is removed from the list on the main page immediately.

On a side note, perhaps Bigjas needs to be a little more circumspect when adding new books, although of course hindsight is a wonderful thing.

I think any site like this simply makes the knowledge available for you to do with as you see fit. I'm not sure that having a list of bookmakers on the front page means that the site necessarily endorses all the books in the list.

Further to that if certain books are removed from the list then this implies the site endorses any bookies that aren't removed.

Golden rule of matched betting is to do your own research before diving in. I did the betafterbet sign up and bust out in one but I avoided the £100 re-load offer as I new the site was risky first time I did it.

What some people may find too risky, others may well be prepared to have a go at. Remember this isn't MSE where gambling is a taboo word

Could not agree more Steve.

What is odd though is that I have done this bookie several times without any fuss ?

Scam is an odd word to use ? Who says anyway ?

According to threads on other forums people aren't getting paid out. I don't necessarily think scam as this implies it was the intention all along to go bust with peoples money. More likely to be a poor business plan (They were really good offers) which was obviously unsustainable in the long term, however that doesn't have the same power as scam :D

Scam is a very strong word which amounts to fraud which of course constitutes a criminal offence – over and above poor business practice, as overseen by the gambling commission. Is this posted as personal knowledge or repeated gossip as heard from another source? Repeating things in good faith is one thing (and not a bad thing per se) but in doing so, it makes good sense for the OP to provide additional information as to the validity of the content, personally known or otherwise. I appreciate Tatty has said "apparently" which indicates this is not personally known to him.
Offers posted here at FEM are done so in good faith on the basis of the terms of the bookies in question. Some offers may seem too good to be true and it may be that such offers will not be around for as long as we would all like – but how many people originally thought Free Easy Money sounded too good to be true? Some doubting types still think so and perhaps shouldn’t be blamed in this day and age when so many scams and con artists are about – particularly on the tinternet!
The reviews of most bookies indicate personal knowledge of the FEM team as to their validity and restrictions (such as minimum odds or other little nuances), but these offers are constantly changing eg Bet365 recently moving away from their free bet offer into a deposit bonus offer. Consequently we rely on yourselves a little to share personal knowledge of such things, good or bad (and appreciate such things too ;) ).
If any offer is found not to be worthwhile to our members then FEM would never post it here in the first place. This bookie will remain for a short time until someone is able to provide personal knowledge of poor business practice or scam, which if true will be very soon. Even then it must be remembered that some people will experience difficulties with all manner of companies, not just bookies. This doesn’t mean the vast majority don’t enjoy good service – they just don’t shout about it as loudly. Thanks everyone. :D

These bonuses are great, in fact i would go as far to say they are probably the best around. BUT IF YOU DO NOT BUST OUT ON FIRST BET (at big odds of course) YOU WILL BE IN THE LONG PROCESS OF BUSTING OUT.
I am so unlucky at these deals its uncanny because i always seem to win at the big odds.
Betafterbet after winning big and eventually finishing their W/R, some how still managed to charged me about £40 for a withdrawal?

My own personal view is this, if you bust out straight away you will make plenty as Steve Sharpe seems too always do on these deals :D
BUT if you dont you will get stuck in the W/R and usually the odds are crap on these bookies so busting out can prove NOT very profitalble.

Your right Alan I do seem lucky when it comes to busting out, and not usually at high odds either. I normally underlay at close odds so If I win I only have double the amount for the WR and some extra profit to play with. If I lose I'm out in one

Now the Coral 10% refund offer, I couldn't pick a loser if I tried. So far I'm up at Coral nearly 5K for this offer for a measly £30 - 40 in arbs. I think I've had one losing month and even that was only about a £14 refund

The fact that they clearly took a hammering from all of the matched bettors in all the major forums probably didn't help their demise.

If a few results went against the bookie and everyone had piled in at long odds, upsetting their betting balance book, they could very quickly be put into the red.

Maybe matched betting killed betafterbet?

Or maybe it's just karma from all the money we have stolen from bookies over the years? ;)
