Betfair left me horrorstruck

Wow! Huge panic just now! What happened is that I was making the £50 qualifying bet with a bookie. I decided to back a draw result on the Australia vs Japan match which is in a day or so's time at odds of 3.25.

I must've spent a good 45 minutes looking for a good odds match for this, and found that I could lay the draw at 3.3 at Betfair. Great! I placed the £50 qualifying bet with the bookie first, then (with heart beating enough already, because I'm still new at this!) I went to lay it at Betfair.

Error: Something about needing to transfer in to an Australian License Wallet! Press the Transfer button. I thought OMG! I hit transfer and it come up with a page, but it said I will need to complete the KYC check first!!! This takes days!!! I've bet £50 of my money and can't place a lay bet!!!

In my panic I signed up with Betdaq, instantly checked the odds there, and the odds were 3.9 to lay, that's bad enough, but there was only £10 available that could be matched at that price anyway! That's no good!!!

I sent them two emails titled Urgent explaining the situation, got an automail back saying ring if there is an urgent query, so I did, they were very good over the phone, they said the KYC check had failed when I signed up, asked me if I was registered to vote etc, I said yes, and he ran it again, this time it passed thank God!

After I logged in/out I could place the bet but the odds had drifted to 3.5 by this point, not bothered though considering it was nearly a disaster, if the KYC check didn't come through then there's not a lot I could have done is there? Except leave it and hope for a draw (that would be nice!). I can't think of anything else I could have done except ask someone here to lay it for me but that's asking a lot of a stranger! I don't think I'd put a big bet on for a stranger!

I think it's all sorted now, but I'm going to double check everything now just in case, I'm paranoid something else will / has gone wrong now!

It was a bit scary considering I thought I was being as careful as I could be! So for any beginner reading this I would say beware if you are betting on anything with Australia in it ... make sure you're passed the KYC and have enough dough in the Australian wallet first (it only takes a few seconds to transfer in from the main wallet). Catches you out...

Edit: Was actually WBX I signed up for in a rush / panic, found that out when I went to Betdaq to try to login and realised the site looked different ;)

Doen't always do it for Football either, had some worries when the Tennis was on in Oz.
