The wonderful world of matched betting

Postby rogsmith » Thu Nov 12, 2009 7:32 am

Thanks to jethro im about to take the plunge into the great world of matched betting. For the past few days i have been reading as much as i can on the forum and trying to learn as much as possible.Im not new to betting and have had a betfair account for a number of years (but am fed up of loosing)so the idea of this is not completly alien to me,and i dont need to learn anything to do with backing or laying.
I have set up a new email account and about to open a new bank account so i keep this all seperate from everything else.Thats about all for now apart from the reason for writing this which is a question.
On lots of the threads i keep coming up against abbreviations (which i cant remember now) bogofs, lms ,mbs etc, that sort of thing but i cant seem to find what a lot of these mean.Im probably missing something obvious but if anyone could list the ones they know of that would be very helpful.
Thats all for now apart from hello to everyone, i hope to contribute something to the forum and i may well post some more questions on here if thats ok.Heres to a fruitful few months to come.

Welcome on board mate :D Thats a good suggestion that possibly should have been included in the FAQ section . However a sticky thread covering your points sill be easy to do and perhaps more accessable to anyone similarly perplexed. I'll get to work on it soon (unless someone beats me to it)

Now for another question,i have been through all this forum and learnt a lot more about all this plus the help jethro has given me but can i ask,
If any of you were starting this now knowing what you now know how would you go about it,any sites you would use or spreadsheets etc etc.

Be organised.Be organised. Be organised. There is a spreadsheet to download from this forum which is a must IMO.
A seperate bank account for MB'ing is probably wise.
Take a week off work for Cheltenham Gold Cup where some really great offers become available.
Recruit some family and friends into the ways of FEM ;)

Hi

I've edited your post as promotion of other websites is against forum rules. We strongly urge all matched bettors to join bookmakers using the links on this site as it's the only way to keep the site and this forum alive

Thank you for your understanding
