Under lay with free money offers

Postby the1andonly » Fri Aug 17, 2012 4:36 pm

Hi all i'm fairly new to this sort of thing i've already taken up some free bet offers which i fully understand how to do.

but this free money one is a bit of a pickle to me. now i haven't got that much of a bank built up yet only £171 which i've made from BetDAQ £70 ish and the rest from free bets, i also use betfair just so i got more options.

i've heard about this underlay to maximise the profit from these free money offers but can't really get my head around the sums.

Now i opened an account with Bwin which gave me a 50% deposit bouns i deposited £40 they gave me £20 my first bet i bet the full amount and layed it off on betfair now cos there wasn't any high arbs as in 100 and up i will end up with about a £4.?? something loss. or looking at it as SR £55.?? if the bookies win.

so with the funds i got i can't really go to high so which is the best way for me to go just try to bust out or go for a higher reward where my funds are limited at this moment in time.

sorry for rambling on just want to make sure i get things covered lol

well my bet lost at the Bwin and won on betfair and made about £16 i'm just wondering now if i done this right any help on these would be great as i'm looking to do another free money offer very soon.

Welcome :D
Underlaying is fairly simple once you get your head around it.

The principle is to reduce your lay risk by a small amount ( say a few pounds). Since your lay risk is what you might win/lose at betfair-what is the purpose? Win less but benefit by busting out of the bookie. Lose LESS if the bookie bet wins, which means you now have more profit which helps when you're completing the wagering requirement of deposit bonuses.

You did the right thing by betting the full £60 ( your 40 deposit and 20 bonus) in one go.
Can you post the odds you were looking at ?

Pogon Szczecin - Zaglebie Lubin (Result at half-time) Draw @ 2.05 Back-Bwin
Pogon Szczecin - Zaglebie Lubin (Result at half-time) Draw @ 2.16 Lay-BF

couldn't really find any better than that

Sorry for the late reply.
A £60 bet at Bwin at those odds gives you a 55.38 return. That's not a 4.62 loss because what you need to do is take this figure away from the £20 bonus you had - which makes your profit from that offer (since you bust out at Bwin) £15.38. Not bad for one bet.
Edit:
What we haven't done is really address the idea of underlying. This is arguably best done at the betfair payment stage. Take what the calculator tells you is the lay stake then adjust (reduce) this a little until you are happy with your lay risk amount. How much is completely up to you. What you have to remember at this stage is you want to bust out (win at betfair). What you are doing is reducing the amount you will win at betfair on the basis of IF you lose at betfair, you are now losing LESS than you would have don if you hadn't underplayed. The benefit of doing this should be easy to see i.e. you now have more money in your bookie account which will help, you when completing the WR.
It's better to underlay at higher odds because a small reduction in your lay stake will have a big effect on your lay risk. Play around with the sums on betfair before you place the bet (don't accept the bet!!!). You can adjust the odds and the stake amounts to see the differences that will be made at lower and higher odds.
Underp
Underlaying is something that should only be done by experienced match bettors though.
